Personality:Enmity's pelt is an ebony black with whorls of stunning silver. She is built slim and lithe, though her skinniness is partly because of her continuous lack of food. She sees through orbs of astonishing blood red. The top part of her left ear has been torn off in a fight, and she bears the clawmarks of other gnawers, though not a single scar made by the blade of a human marks her skin. Her claws are sharper and longer than those of most gnawers, though despite the advantages this may give her in a fight, they tend to get in the way of things.
[/blockquote]History:En is a natural liar. Lies pass through her lips more often than the truth does, and because of this she is difficult to trust. She is fully aware of the lies she tells, though, and is conniving, sneaky and smart about them. She very rarely speaks without thinking things through first. Anything she says is designed either to help herself or hurt you. Enmity has no experience in caring about others, as she has always lived for just herself.
Enmity appreciates isolation. Since she was alone as a pup, she is unused to the company of other gnawers. She is wary, even frightened of strangers, and hides her fear through cold threats and evasive lies. This show of hostility often gets her into fights. Even if you have broken through her defenses and consider En your friend, be warned, you may awake one night to her claws stabbing into your back.
Codeword: dollarsEnmity has always been alone. As soon as En was old enough to open her eyes her mother was gone, disappeared without a trace. Her father, though she never knew him, is rumored to be a high ranking gnawer general who shunned her from the moment she was born because he had wanted a son rather than a daughter. For the first four or five months of her life Enmity was a foster pup, traveling from family to family because no one cared to keep the sneaky, disagreeable pup for very long. Finally, at around five months, En decided she couldn't take it any longer. During the night she slipped away, out into the world on her own and not even half grown yet.
She almost died within the first week, falling into one of the two raging rivers that ran through the gnawers' land. No one was there to come to her rescue, and she hadn't the slightest idea how to swim. All she could do was let the river thrash her around and try to keep her head above the surface as much as possible. She tired quickly, though, and the little pup prepared herself for death. She would have died, too, had it not been for a stone that stuck out of the riverbank just far enough for her to latch her claws around and pull herself out of the water. She was safe.
She continued on after a long, much needed day of rest, sleeping practically the whole time. For a minute the pup yearned for the comfort of a mother, but she pushed the thought away quickly. Mother was gone, and good riddance to her. Enmity could survive on her own.
Deciding to follow the river, she found that it branched off in a small stream, and that stream led to...a place unlike any she'd ever seen before. It was a vast maze of tunnels, dead ends, caves, and various passageways, virtually impossible to navigate. But Enmity tried it anyway. She got hopelessly lost a few times, but somehow managed to find her way back to the stream she had originally followed. And this place, this place she'd never seen before, got her thinking.
The presence of gnawers was evident, yes. On her exploration mission around the maze, he could smell them everywhere, hear them moving around in certain caves and tunnels (she avoided those) and had even glimpsed a few. Obviously this was still gnawer territory. But it was much more empty than the Tunnels, where she had been born, were. She could live by herself, on her own, undisturbed. The thought appealed to her, so she decided to make her home here, in this place she learned later on to be called the Labyrinth.
The first few months were a struggle. Enmity had not learned everything she had to learn yet, so she had to settle with teaching herself how to fish and sharpen her fighting and hunting skills and live on her own. But she managed, and grew to have reputation in the Labyrinth. Rats who crossed her got clawed, or else continuously threatened until they decided it'd be safer to leave En be. She'd always had a way with words. The young gnawer became known as the 'feisty she-rat in the cave by the stream who'll claw your ears off if you get too close'. Truthfully, Enmity's anger at trespassers spawned from her pathological paranoia of strangers; she feels a constant need to defend herself or else throw them off.
To this day, nearly two years since she arrived, Enmity remains living in her Labyrinth cave. She is comfortable here, despite the lack of some things. Food is scarce, but it is always that way. She ventures to other parts of the Underland when the need arises, though she has never been farther northward than the crawler lands in the west and the jungle in the east. The only time En's ever glimpsed a human was during a brief trip to the Arch of Tantalus, and from what she saw of the vile creature, the rest of her species was right. They don't deserve to be here, in the Underland. In her Underland.
